Q. How long after I am called back to work and pass my Urine Analysis must I make a decision between returning to Oak Harbor or keeping my alternative, full-time job?
A. The company is obligated to give you a "resonable" amount of time to return-to-work. Please contact your business agent and your terminal manager for a definition of "reasonable" time. If you need additional time before returming to work you should request leave in writing under Article 10.02 in the contract. The maximum leave shall be 3 weeks unless the employer agrees to more.
Q. I just received a call back letter dated March 10 the thing is my hire date was April 26th 2008 looks like calling all back.
A. The company has sent out these letters to all employees that the company thinks have not contacted them since the strike was over. It does not mean work is available for everyone they sent this letter too. If an employee does not respond by the date on the letter, we assume the company will send out termination letters for failure to report.
Q. I would like to know if there are still non-union persons working in Mount Vernon? If there are why do they not offer Everett terminal union drivers those positions or drivers living in the north of Seattle?
A. There are still non-Union employees working at the Mt Vernon facility. As more striking members return to work, we believe many of the lesser seniority scab employees will be put on layoff at Mt Vernon. A grievance has been filed by Local 174 on behalf of drivers at Auburn and Everettt facilities who should be allowed to 'follow-the-work' to Mount Vernon due to the closure of the Mount Lake Terrace facility.
